Cellofest - The Murakami Songs

In this program created especially for the Cello Biennial, cellist Benjamin Glorieux, pianist/composer Rembrandt Frerichs, percussionist Vinsent Planjer, and actor/singer Frans van Deursen stretch the boundaries of reality. Wandering through the unique world of Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, they present a kaleidoscopic concert at Bimhuis filled with talking cats, languishing lovers, rains of fish, a boy named Crow, and a lonely, yearning cello in search of its other half. Haruki Murakami, born in 1949 in Kyoto, is one of the most famous Japanese writers of today. He won, among others, the Cino Del Duca World Prize in 2022 and the Princess of Asturias Award in 2023.
