Maiden Mother Crone
About the event
Maiden Mother Crone is a world-premiere evening of dance, live chamber music, fashion, and media arts by Red Nightfall Dance Theatre, performed in an intimate studio theater in East Austin. Created and directed by Artistic Director Dorothy O'Shea Overbey. The work follows a single woman's passage through three initiatory trials, as Maiden, Mother, and Crone, until she comes into her full power. Three choreographers shape the three passages. Eight live musicians perform a score that includes new music by Austin composer Joe Jaxson. Each evening begins with an immersive live fashion installation before the performance. Maiden Mother Crone opens the week after Día de los Muertos. It is the latest installment in CRONE, the ongoing performance series and mythology Dorothy O'Shea Overbey has been building since 2012.
