Join MACS at the FREE Museum of Homelessness for the exhibition ‘Criminal: an Untold History of Homelessness, Resistance and Survival’ on Saturday 24 October! 💪🏻✨
This historical exhibition explores 400 years of criminalisation of homelessness, featuring new work from 10Foot, Gemma Lees, Matt Bonner, Spelling Mistakes Cost Lives, and Surfing Sofas.
‘Criminal’ is staged in an English perennial meadow at the museum’s site in Finsbury Park, and reveals that how we think about homelessness today comes from ideas that were created long ago.
The exhibition investigates the intertwined histories of people made homeless and transported from England, Ireland and Africa to the early plantations. Visitors will be taken on a journey through land enclosure, rebellion in the colonies, Elizabethan Rogue literature, Victorian institutions, resistance movements and modern-day disinformation.

MEET DETAILS FOR SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER:
☕️ FROM 1:30PM: MEET AT PARK VIEW CAFE (optional) Address: Manor House, 327a Green Lanes, Finsbury Park, London N4 1BZ Look out for the MACS sign on the café table.
🏛️ 2PM: ENTER THE MUSEUM Address: The Manor House Lodge, Seven Sisters Road, London, N4 2DE
The experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours, with a 30-minute introduction and tour, followed by a selection of Object Stories from the collection facilitated by one of the museum’s Object Storytellers.
🍻 4PM- LATE: PUB SOCIAL (optional) We'll head to a local pub to chat over drinks. Address: *Location tbc 48 hours before event.*

📍GETTING THERE: The museum is at The Manor House Lodge, inside Finsbury Park (near Manor House Gate), Seven Sisters Road, London, N4 2DE. Some maps send you to Finsbury Park station, this is incorrect. The nearest tube station is Manor House (Piccadilly line). Please note there is no on-site parking.
