What happens when we listen to music not only with our ears, but also through lines, colours and images?
For this evening, we'll meet in the studio and draw, paint or sketch while listening to the music of Erik Satie.
I'll guide you through the music and offer some simple prompts and questions to help you notice associations, images, colours, moods or shapes that appear while listening. Your drawings can be figurative, abstract, somewhere in between — or change completely along the way.
There is no right way to translate music into an image, and no previous experience is needed.
You're welcome to bring your favourite materials, but plenty of drawing and painting materials will also be available at the studio. I'll provide some snacks and drinks too.
We'll mostly be sitting on the floor, so please bring a drawing board, sketch pad or another firm surface to work on. If sitting on the floor isn't comfortable for you, just let me know — we'll arrange chairs.
💛 💛 This gathering is donation-based. If you'd like to contribute towards the studio, materials and snacks, a donation of around €3–10 is appreciated, but you're welcome to join regardless of how much you can contribute.
Come as you are, listen closely, and see where the music takes your drawing.
