Is this your event?About the event
Come for the tango. Stay for the actual human connection.
When so much of our lives happens through screens, it can feel refreshing to slow down, look another person in the eyes, share a laugh, and simply be present together.
Tango for Belonging is a free, beginner-friendly experience where we'll use the basics of tango to explore presence, listening, play, and meaningful human connection.
We'll begin with a 60-minute guided class, followed by a social where you're invited to practice what you've learned, continue connecting, or simply enjoy being part of the community.
No partner or dance experience is needed. I'll guide you step by step, and you're always welcome to participate at the level of connection and movement that feels comfortable for you.
And don't worry about getting everything right—we'll be celebrating the mistakes together.
❤️ What Our Community Is Saying
“I went to the first one and really enjoyed it! Alice is a wonderfully intuitive teacher, and everyone I danced with and met seemed to have the shared goal of actual social connection.” — Lauren, Tango for Belonging attendee
What to Expect
During our 60-minute class, we'll begin with simple connection exercises before introducing some of the fundamentals of tango. Rather than focusing on complicated steps, we'll explore what tango can teach us about listening, trust, communication, and navigating the unknown together.
After class, we'll open the floor for our social. Stay and dance, meet someone new, continue a conversation, or simply enjoy the community.
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. Shoes that slide easily on a hard floor are recommended.
More Than a Tango Class
Tango gives us an opportunity to practice something we encounter every day: moving forward without knowing exactly what comes next.
Through dance, we'll explore the balance between leading and listening, structure and flow, individuality and connection.
Our intention is to grow a community of bridge makers—people who value curiosity, meaningful human connection, and creating spaces where more of us can experience belonging.
Location
We plan on meeting at the Amphitheater at Girard Kinney Park, which is located at the intersection of Aldrich Street and Simond street.
