Many health systems seek to incentivise value-based healthcare delivery to control costs and improve population health. Dr Gutacker will reflect on the English patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) programme and how routinely collected data on patient-reported outcomes after hip and knee replacement surgery have been used by the English National Health Service (NHS) to measure, monitor and incentivise care quality.
