Our monthly concert series Staircase Sounds returns to the Central Library for a third season of free public concerts that celebrate the incredible diversity of Vancouver's musical communities. Our first performance in this series will feature the ATA Ensemble, presented in partnership with the Iranian Music Society of BC. Founded in 2023, this group includes artists from across the Middle East, including Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iraq, who now live in Vancouver. Embracing its multicultural identity, the ATA Ensemble strives to perform shared musical traditions from the region in multiple languages, with Azerbaijani music at its core. This performance, aimed at introducing the culture and musical style of Azerbaijan, blends Azeri heritage with global influences. - This program is presented in partnership with the Iranian Music Society of BC. IMSBC performances are funded in part by the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors program. Live Music at VPL is generously funded by VPL Foundation donors.
