Thanks for Your Hospitality

Set inside a struggling restaurant, the play follows a group of restaurant workers after their beloved venue is sold to a corporate group. As shifts are cut, wages squeezed, and workplace culture deteriorates, the staff find themselves trapped in a system that demands more and more of their bodies, time and dignity. When tensions finally boil over, an act of violence leads to an unexpected opportunity: the workers discover that the new management is far more profitable as a menu item than an employer. Part workplace comedy, part social satire, 'Thanks for Your Hospitality' explores commodification of human beings under late capitalism. For Netherfest, Famous Last Words will present an in-progress reading of selected material as part of the ongoing development process.
