Conference: Jean-François CAIL, an overlooked genius of the first industrial revolution

On the occasion of the centenary of the 8th arrondissement City Hall in the Cail hotel, a conference revisits the life and work of Jean-François Cail, a major industrialist of the first industrial revolution.
On Thursday, September 17 at 6:30 PM, the 8th arrondissement City Hall proposes a conference dedicated to Jean-François Cail (1804-1871), former owner of the private hotel that now houses the city hall.
Alain Cornu-Thenard, honorary president of the C.A.I.L. Association, will revisit the exceptional career of this entrepreneur, through the three major fields that marked his life: industry, agriculture, and real estate.
From his activities in the sugar industry and railway construction to his agricultural experiences and real estate achievements, this conference will allow for a better understanding of the personality and work of Jean-François Cail.
Special attention will also be paid to the history of the Cail hotel and its transformation into the 8th arrondissement City Hall, a century after its construction.
