Wissahickon Valley Park - North Side
About the event
\~10.5 miles \~1,000' elevation moderate to brisk pace varied by terrain
We'll start at Bells Mill Road parking where there might be a porta-potty (We did this in the winter and it had been removed). From there we do a short 1-2 miles loop to see the Great Beech Tree (sadly has died so won't be there forever). Then we come back down to the yellow trail and take that to Thomas Mill Covered Bridge to cross the creek. There we pick up the orange trail and take that along the river past the Magarage Dam to the Valley Green Inn where we will have lunch at the picnic tables outside (not in the Inn).
After lunch we'll take the yellow trail again to Gorgas Cave. We'll cross the creek again and take the orange trail back to the parking crossing the Fingerspan Bridge and passing Glen Fern, the Devil's Pool, and Teedyuscung's Statue.
This is a rocky hike so sturdy boots are recommended. Bring water, food, rain gear, and poles if you want. If you need to contact me my cell is 609-471-4119.
