
Family Design Challenge, October Half Term
About the event
Take on a Family Design Challenge in Open Studio, where you and your children problem-solve, design and make together. You'll respond to a creative brief set by a designer, explore inspiring objects from Young V&A, and get hands-on with a range of materials and tools with the support of our creative facilitators. At the end, you can take your creation home or choose to display it in Open Studio. 29 – 30 Oct, Bird Housing Models, inspired by Designer in The Shed 'Christie Swallow' 31 Oct – Halloween Special 'Goodies & Baddies' Supported by Mattel. More Information • This free workshop is open to families with children aged up to 14 and is most suitable for children aged 5-14. • Drop in anytime between 12.00 and 16.00, with last entry at 15.30. • On busier days, sessions may run as six timed 30-minute workshops between 12.00 and 16.00. Queuing opens 10 minutes before each session: 12.00, 12.40, 13.20, 14.00, 14.40 and 15.20. • We can welcome up to 50 participants, including children, young people and grown-ups across our tables and soft seating areas. Please visit our Access page for more information. • This is a family event, children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop. • We offer a range of materials, tools and ways to take part, so children and young people can explore and create in a way that works best for them. • Ear defenders are available from reception and in Open Studio. • Activities are mainly table-based, with tables at different heights and a variety of seating options, including a carpeted area. • We know that visiting a museum as a family requires lots of planning.
