Talking Teen: A 4-Week Parenting Programme for Parents of 11–14 Year Olds
Parenting a teenager can sometimes feel like navigating unfamiliar territory. The child you knew so well is becoming more independent, emotions can feel bigger, communication can become more difficult, and the approaches that worked when they were younger don't always work anymore.
Talking Teen is a supportive four-week programme for parents and carers of children aged 11–14, designed to help you better understand your teenager and feel more confident navigating the challenges of these years.
Each week explores a different aspect of parenting a teenager, from understanding teenage development and communicating effectively, to managing difficult emotions, conflict, boundaries and challenging conversations.
The programme combines evidence-based parenting approaches with practical strategies and group discussion, giving you the opportunity to share experiences, ask questions and learn alongside other parents who are navigating similar challenges.
Over four weeks, we will explore:
Week 1: Being a parent of a teenager and responding to difficult feelingsWeek 2: Understanding teenage development, parenting styles, praise and criticismWeek 3: Talking, listening and communicating clearly, including difficult issuesWeek 4: Managing conflict, setting boundaries and problem-solving
This isn't about finding a perfect way to parent. It's about understanding your teenager, strengthening your relationship and building a practical bank of approaches that you can try at home.
Four weeks. A supportive group. Practical tools. A little more confidence for the teenage years.
