Five recent OCAD University graduates explore transition, memory, and the cyclical nature of time
TORONTO, ON - Moultling, Will You Live Forever? brings together recent OCAD University graduates Isabella Ramirez, Sophie Sawicka, Ella Morreale, Riley Drummond, and Rahma Kareem for a group exhibition at Gagné Contemporary Projects, on view August 21-30, 2026.
The exhibition responds to moments suspended in time: thresholds within our cyclical nature when we pause, hold our breath, and become aware that something is about to change. Like standing in the doorway of a room you are leaving for the last time, holding a key you no longer need, or revisiting something once familiar and realizing it has softly transformed.
Approaching time not as a straight line but as something that loops, spirals, and returns, the exhibition considers how beginnings fold into endings and endings give way to beginnings. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, textile, and collage, the artists reflect on the emotional and psychological experience of transition, and on how places, relationships, and versions of ourselves shift each time we return to them.
Each artist presents two to three works shaped by a shared sense of nostalgia, uncertainty, and the desire to hold on while still moving forward. Together, the works create a space for contemplating change not as a single rupture, but as an ongoing process of shedding, returning, and becoming.
