Is this your event?About the event
Photography is usually a solo act. Not here. Pair up, explore the streets, and see the city through someone else's lens. Bring a friend or come alone and leave with a new creative partner. Your photos won't stay on screen either: in Part 2, we'll turn them into a handmade zine.
Participants get to explore the streets in this with a partner in this workshop. Bring a friend along or simply come alone and get to know fellow participants not just by name, but also from their perspectives in their photographs and their styles. Call & Response is an opportunity to bring a seemingly solo pursuit into a space for shared conversations and idea riffs. The workshop succeeding this would bring the digital series of images created to life through a guided process of zine making.
About the trainer:
Benjamin Tan ( Visuals & Stories ) is a full-time photographer, videographer and educator. Having knowledge and experience in Social Work through previously working in the social services sector, he combines them together with his passion for photography to create experiential workshops that positively impact mental health and bring about social awareness. He engages with people of all ages by encouraging them to explore the deeper meanings behind their photographs, asking the ‘why’ within the ‘what.’ He has facilitated such sessions with organisations such as the National Gallery Singapore, National Library Board, Singapore Association for Mental Health and Allkin Singapore Ltd., to name a few.
This programme is part of Thrive@Libraries 2026.
