Our September read is "Death and the Penguin" by bestselling Ukrainian novelist Andrey Kurkov. He is the author of 19 books, most of them translated into English. He started writing at the age of 7 when two of his three pet hamsters died under tragic circumstances and he wrote a poem about the loneliness of the survivor. Sadly the third hamster also died tragically soon after.
If you read Norwegian, Deichman has a surprising number of copies in that language. The book is also available to buy in Norway's best independent bookstore, Tronsmo, and of course Norli and Ark. The book club endorses Tronsmo, naturally.
The meetup will take place in person at the main library in Bjørvika. If anyone is interested, we can continue the conversation afterward over drinks at a nearby pub!
