Experience the creative intersection of two distinct artistic voices in Convergence, a joint exhibition by Hawkesbury-based artists Carol Gill and Redherring (AKA Mark Wilson). Having met while volunteering at the Ferry Artists Gallery in Wisemans Ferry, the duo regularly discussed collaborating on a joint exhibition. Convergence is the realisation of that shared vision, a convergence of two unique visual styles, backgrounds, and creative techniques. Carol Gill has called the Hawkesbury home for more than 35 years. Deeply connected to the surrounding natural environment, her practice is shaped by her background in graphic design, her love for local flora and fauna, and her heritage as descendant of a long line of skilled female crafters. Working from her studio in Webbs Creek, Carol is a mixed-media artist who translates her en plein air sketches into vibrant, layered studio works. For Carol, the tactile process of collage, building up layers of colour and texture with mulberry paper (hanji), tissue paper, gouache and watercolour represents the delicate web of the natural environment.
