Join polyglot Boston F prof & buddy in hotel-to-hotel intermodal MA-RI-CT-MA circle bicycle trip in the Oct 9-12 long weekend.(Boston, MA)- New London CT-Amherst - Fitchburg MA (Boston). Start Friday October 9th with commuter rail from Boston South Station to Wickford Junction RI, bike to New London CT (45 miles, mixed); Saturday October 10th commuter rail to New Haven, then car free Farmington Heritage Trail from New London to Westfield MA (c 65 miles and flat); Sunday October 11th Westfield MA to Amherst MA (c 35 miles, mixed), Monday, Oct 11 Amherst MA - Wachussetts MA (c 67 miles and hilly). (+ commuter rail to Boston). If needed, can join group in New London on Friday October 9. Average speed c 12 mph, please be prepared to ride as a group. NB: because of the challenging nature of this trip, in order to participate please 1) attend a 50 mile + daylong, multimodal (is, including one or more segments by commuter rail), ride organized by the the organizer, 2) send her your riding stats from RWGPS or similar for 50--mile plus rides with at least 2500 ft elevation gain, and 3) attend one of the info meetings. Includes wonderful stops to enjoy delicious local treats and great conversation. No camping - staying in hotels/rbnb's.
