Trivia: A non Trivial Way to Learn Something and Potluck
About the event
Please read!
This is our 2nd effort at creating an in-home trivia event and while we had fun with our earlier effort, we have tweaked how we are going to get our trivia questions. Please read on.
We are going to try to create a different type of event here. I know a lot of you like going to Trivia events but this one will be a little different. Everyone will be asked to send Jeffrey two trivia questions. (Not all trivia questions will be used and of course bring some food to share).
For this event the focus will not be in asking obscure questions, but rather to ask Trivia questions that are intended to either enlighten or entertain your fellow attendees.
So for instance the Trivia question of what is the name of the famous 13th Century Sufi mystic and poet might be known by a few of you, (his name was Rumi), but my guess is that this information will not add to the preferred knowledge base for most of us.
Instead the questions should focus on either something that is more current or is likely to add to our "useful" knowledge base. Here are a few examples that we think might fit into this category. (And yes, we realize that everybody may have a different opinion on what information would be considered useful or entertaining).
Having said that, here are five questions that we think would fit those parameters:
1. What were the small pockets in jeans originally designed to hold? 2. What is the name for a period of two weeks? 3. What component in blood helps in clotting? 4. What was the name of the first cloned animal? 5. Toronto is on which body of water?
Our idea is that we will divide up into three or four teams and come up with group answers to the questions. The winning team will be bestowed all the honors and adulation that one would expect from such a victory.
The potluck will start at 6 PM.
And the answers to the previous Trivia questions are (in order):
Pocket watches, Fortnight, Platelets, Dolly, and Lake Ontario (only answer accepted!)
Particulars: • Our home is a no-shoe zone\, please remove upon entering (house slippers acceptable) • We have a usually friendly cat who might demand petting\! But beware\!\! Wilhelmina will sometimes use somewhat harsh measures to teach you what she considers is an "incorrect" petting effort.
• Parking: street and driveway
