Is this your event?About the event
Step back into Lisbon, 1770. Author Marina Pacheco reads from her novel *What the Pauper Did* — a body swap mystery romance about Herculano, a man who wakes up in a stranger's body, and Odete, who must overcome her suspicions and join him to save the kingdom from tyranny. After the reading, we'll hold a salon discussion in the 18th-century tradition: What does it mean to be you? What makes a person a person — memories, body, or soul? Bring your opinions. There's also a Q&A with the author, and a book signing (signed copies €10) — and if you can't wait, the EBOOK is on special offer in the author's online shop for the whole month of October for €2.99 instead of the usual €4.99: [shop link]. A bar is available (no food).
Period dress is optional but welcome — frock coats, fans, tricorn hats. Costume or jeans, you're equally welcome.
Who should come: Historical fiction fans, mystery and romance readers, book club members, history lovers, philosophy enthusiasts, anyone who enjoys a lively discussion about what makes us who we are. Come alone — you'll leave with fellow book lovers.
Can't join us in person or want to read the book before the event? *What the Pauper Did* EBOOK is available on offer in the author's shop throughout October for €2.99 instead of the usual 4.99 — [grab it here](→ https://shop.marinapacheco.me › products › what-the-pauper-did-historical-fantasy-ebook) and read along with us.
