Ólafur Arnalds - Falling Apart Together
About the event
Award-winning artist, composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds makes his debut in our Main Hall with his most daring and adventurous project to date. Falling Apart Together is an attempt at dismantling the distance between us. A concert hybrid that reveals the layers we construct in order to feel safe, the moments in which those layers tremble and the shared humanity that emerges when we allow ourselves to be exposed. Together with his team of devoted craftsmen and musicians, Ólafur presents a spellbinding blend of past and new material in a show that challenges the boundaries of what a concert can be. After his globally acclaimed tours following re:member and some kind of peace - which sold out such iconic halls as Royal Albert Hall, Elbphilharmonie, Sydney Opera House, and Walt Disney Concert Hall, performing to hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide - Ólafur returns with his most intimate and boundary-pushing work to date. Falling Apart Together explores what becomes possible when we let ourselves unravel just enough to collectively open up. Please note: strobe effects will be used during this concert. This concert is amplified. More information is on this page. Jazz and pop music It goes without saying that The Concertgebouw and jazz & pop music make a perfect combination. The stages of both the Main Hall and the Recital Hall have borne witness to nearly the whole of jazz history. Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald have both performed here, as have Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Famous pop stars and bands that have graced the stage of the Main Hall include Frank Zappa, the Doors and the Eagles, to name but a few. Legendary concerts, in the present as well as the past.
