*Making friends in Amsterdam is hard.* We get it. And we want to help. I think many people in this group know this feeling. When you move to Amsterdam, you meet your colleagues and maybe your flatmates. But after that, it may get difficult. People are busy, plans are made weeks ahead, and most friend groups started years before you even thought of moving here.
It happens to people who have lived here a long time too: friends move away, have children, or just get busy. Then one day you notice that you don't have many people to call on Saturday The usual advice is to join a club or go to a meetup. That works for some people. But at a big meetup you often talk to the same two people for five minutes and never see them again. Apps for making friends can feel like dating apps. And walking into a room full of strangers on your own is hard for most of us.  So we started Detor Social Table.
*The idea is simple:* We bring six people who don't know each other to one table for coffee, brunch, dinner, wine or drinks. You answer a few questions once (takes about 2 minutes): what you like talking about, which languages you speak etc. We use your answers to choose the people at your table, and we book the café or restaurant. 24 hours before, we send you the address and the first names of the people you will meet. Then you just go. There are no photos, no profiles and no swiping. These tables are not for dating. They are for people who want to meet new people in their city. Your first table is free. You can come alone or bring one friend, and your friend's seat is also free the first time. Everyone pays for their own food and drinks.  A little about us: Detor is a new startup. We are building one place where you can find small experiences hosted by local people, events, and free things to do in your city.
