Free International Workshop | Theatre and Community – Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory

Running 17–28 August 2026, Monday to Friday, 19h30–22h30, at Roosevelt Unit. Participants develop an understanding of artistic and human practice within community contexts through performative exercises grounded in "Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory." Each participant creates a roughly 9-minute work incorporating composition, movement, sound score, scenic space organisation, and costume/props. Territory is understood as the community itself, encompassing its histories, tensions, and daily lived experience. Led by Rui Germano, Portuguese theatre director, master's degree holder in theatre and community, founder of Associação Cultural Beleza Teatro, and long-standing collaborator with SP Escola Superior de Teatro. His practice as educator and artist in international exchange projects centres on collaborative methods and creative processes connected to memory, personal experience, and the relationship between art and community. Open to theatre students and others interested in the subject matter, no distinctions applied, age 18 and over. 35 places. Selection via curriculum review and statement of interest.
