How it works

In 2029, cyborg officer Major Motoko Kusanagi and the security unit Section 9 hunt a hacker known as the Puppet Master, who can break into people's minds and rewrite their memories. Mamoru Oshii's adaptation of Masamune Shirow's manga asks what is left of a person once both body and memory can be replaced, and its images and ideas fed directly into The Matrix and much of the science fiction that followed.
