H’ART Museum is a an art museum where famous works of art and stories from around the world are brought together in one-of-a-kind exhibitions. Our exhibitions are always temporarily on show but will stay with you forever. The museum is located in a historical landmark, at the heart of the Dutch capital. For years, Hermitage Amsterdam flourished in this monument.
Today, we are H’ART Museum, a cultural oasis – with a unique indoor garden and a bustling Grand Café – where constantly many interesting things are going on, from concerts, lectures and movie nights to art education for children and young adults.

In the fall of 2026, H’ART Museum, in collaboration with Centre Pompidou, will present a large-scale exhibition on Henri Matisse (1869–1954).
Centre Pompidou, in Paris, hold one of the few collections with works from all periods of this artist’s life. The exhibition displays more than thirty paintings, sculptures, and prints by Matisse, supplemented with work by contemporaries such as George Braque, Picasso, Sonia Delaunay, and Le Corbusier, and followers, including Barnett Newman, Ellsworth Kelly, and Mark Rothko.
The exhibition shows how Matisse not only innovated painting, but also influenced the art world of his time and beyond. His search for color, form, and emotion made him one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. It is no coincidence that Picasso said, “*No matter how you look at it, in the end there is only Matisse.*”
