BarcelonaJS x Factorial Meetup
About the event
We're back! Get ready for another colab meetup between BarcelonaJS and ReactJS Barcelona! It's going to be amazing!!! ────────── 18:00: Welcome Grab a beer, a snack, and a seat until everybody arrives!
18:30: Intro by Host Neciu Dan
18:35: Redrawing the line between engineering and design by Oana Neciu, Design Lead at Hubtype
Engineering and design are converging, but closing that gap takes time, shifting mental models, and proactivity from both sides. Work that used to sit on the design side now happens in code, quietly, as part of building the thing. Twelve minutes on what developers can take from the way designers think, how to stay closer to the decisions being made, and how to make better ones yourself.
18:50 The design system is the Prompt by Raúl Sigüenza Sánchez, Product Maker @ Factorial
AI is great at generating interfaces. But what if it could generate your interfaces? Explore how we combine React, AI skills, rules, and a real design system to make prototypes that are built from the same building blocks as production.
19:20 Beats, Rhymes, and Neural Nets by Tony Edwards, Mobile App Developer at Sapphire Holidays
Hip Hop and Neural Nets. They're a match made in heaven. Right? Speech recognition is all around us. From the smartphones in our pockets to the devices at the heart of our digital homes, we’re never far from audio recognition technology.
Not only does it enable new ways of interacting with computers, but it also has the potential to reshape Human-Computer Interaction for people requiring assistive technologies... and developers. The humble web browser is no exception, and the latest advancements in AI tooling are supercharging its capabilities.
But is in-browser speech recognition any good? How does it compare to options such as Whisper? Which one will win the battle?
19:50: Drinks and networking!

Over one million people use Factorial across more than 95 countries to automate and centralise administrative tasks in areas like HR, Finance and IT.
Our all-in-one platform brings together time management, talent, recruitment, expenses, analytics, document management and much more, so companies of any industry and size can focus on what truly matters: the people who make them grow.
