Woodley Park Zoo and Lunch at Roma Pizzeria
About the event
Enjoy a nice day at the Woodley Park Zoo in Washington DC. Follow a scenic trail from top to bottom featuring two Pandas, Bao Li and Qing Boa, leased from China in January 2025. The trail continues past an Asian Elephant enclosure with a baby Elephant, Linh Mai, born on 02 February, 2026. Further on the trail, you pass the Reptile house, Great Ape house, and other enclosures containing monkeys, orangutans and other small mammals. The bottom of the trail features exhibits with lions and tigers. Another interesting exhibit includes Amazonia - an immense rainforest with tropical animals, fish and trees.
Around 12:30, we can head to lunch at Via Roma Pizzeria, located on 2606 Connecticut Ave, four blocks from the zoo entrance. Lunch is optional.
You can return to the zoo after lunch for another hour or depart any time you choose.
Transportation: Metro:: Woodley Park/Adams Morgan Metro Stop about 4 blocks from the zoo entrance on Connecticut Ave.
Driving: From Beltway (Rt 495) take exit 30 (Rt 29 south). Make a left on 16th St. Go several miles and make a right at Harvard St and a left at Adams Mill Rd. Park on Adams Mill Rd or Harvard and proceed to the back entrance of the zoo. Note that you will have to walk up the main zoo trail to the Connecticut Ave entrance. Available parking on Sunday.
