About the event

Love, Projection & the Stories We Create About Each Other

We all want to feel seen. By a partner. By a friend. By the people we choose to let close. But how often do we actually meet another person as they are? And how often are we meeting our idea of them — shaped by attraction, past experiences, fear, expectations and the stories we create? Someone doesn’t reply for a few hours, and suddenly we think we know what it means. A small comment can trigger an old wound. We meet someone new and very quickly decide: *safe or unsafe* *interesting or boring* *my type or not my type* So this edition of Being Human asks:

Can we really see another person — without immediately turning them into a story?

We’ll explore this through guided reflection, conversations in pairs and small groups, and a facilitated whole-room dialogue.

What we’ll explore

• why we form images of people so quickly; • how past relationships shape present ones; • the difference between seeing and projecting; • what gets in the way of truly listening; • and what changes when we bring more attention into our relationships.

What might you leave with?

Hopefully:

• more awareness of the stories you create about others; • insight into one relationship pattern of your own; • a deeper experience of listening and being listened to; • fresh perspectives on dating, friendship and intimacy; • and a few conversations you genuinely want to continue.

Who is this for?

For people curious about relationships, psychology, mindfulness, philosophy and human connection. Especially if you’ve ever wondered: Why do I keep being attracted to certain kinds of people? Why do some interactions trigger me so quickly? Why is it sometimes so hard to feel truly understood? No philosophy background is needed. You don’t need to be in a relationship. Just bring curiosity, openness and a willingness to go beyond small talk.

📵 Phones down. Humans present.

As always, we’ll invite everyone to keep phones away during the heart of the session. Not because technology is bad. Simply because being genuinely seen may require something increasingly rare:

our full attention.

Come alone if you like — many people do.
