English and Spanish Conversation Exchange
About the event
Language exchange for English and Spanish speakers featuring one hour of conversation in each language. Table groupings of 1-1, 2-1, or 3-1 depending on attendance.
This respectful and welcoming event brings together people to practice languages, meet others, and build friendships in a supportive environment.
Meets at Waves Coffee House, 900 Howe St #100, Vancouver, BC V6Z 2M4 (Smithe St & Howe St) at 2pm. Arrive early to find your conversation group.
EVENT GUIDELINES:
• LEVEL: Minimum conversational fluency required. Inform the host of your level. • BALANCE: Equal practice in both languages (one hour each). • SENSITIVITY: Avoid uncomfortable or controversial topics. Respect cultural differences. • CORRECTION: Offer respectful corrections and explain unfamiliar words. • ENGAGEMENT: Arrive punctually, participate actively, and support others. • CONDUCT: Not a dating event. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. • SUPPORT: Purchase at least one beverage at Waves Coffee to support the venue. • RSVP: Confirm attendance to help with organization and encourage participation. • SCHEDULE: One hour per language. Punctuality expected. • VOLUNTEERS: Community-run by volunteers. 2CAD fee covers operations. • REPORTING: Report inappropriate behavior to organizers or SpanglishersCommunity@gmail.com.
