The Passion of Joan of Arc (La Passion De Jeanne D'arc, dir. Carl Theodor Dreyer, Drama, 1928, France, 110 min, 16+)
Young peasant Joan of Arc (Maria Falconetti) is condemned to death after leading the French people against invading English forces, claiming divine inspiration from Jesus and Saint Michael. Her final hours unfold through capture by the English, imprisonment, torture, heresy trial, and execution. Throughout, she endures both accusations and abandonment by the Catholic Church and her French countrymen.
About the musicians
Robson Ashtoffen holds a doctorate in Education from FEUSP and has taught guitar and bass for over 10 years. As a music producer, arranger, and composer, he has collaborated with artists including As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira, Zudizilla, Jair Naves, and Lua Bernardo. He has created soundtracks for film and television, co-created the cinema podcast Cinema do Fim do Mundo, and has worked as a professional musician for over 20 years.
Carlos Eduardo Samuel, a USP music graduate, has taught piano for 14 years with experience in composing soundtracks for theater and animation. He performed with As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira (2014–2018) and currently works as pianist in Teatro Oficina productions and with the musical groups Voodoo Woman, St. Louis Disaster, Joy Sales, and Walktalks. He teaches piano at Escola de Música Movimento and practices massage therapy.
