Mackenzy Mackay writes about the ordinary things in life: the feelings upon waking, missing an old car, or someone who just won't get out of your head. This singer-songwriter grew up in Scotland and had to fend for himself from a young age. He worked all kinds of jobs and tried to find his own musical style.

Love and adversity inspire Mackenzy

The experiences from his younger years are reflected in his lyrics. They deal with love, adversity, and seeing the extraordinary in everyday moments. His music combines the soulful vocals and guitar of Jack Johnson with the direct storytelling of Arctic Monkeys. You can also hear the hip-hop rhythms he grew up with in his songs.
