First Contact and Religion: How Would Faith Traditions Respond?

We return to our regular Sunday afternoon meetings. In person meeting. Throughout history, major shifts in human understanding have transformed religion, philosophy, and society. But what would happen if open contact with extraterrestrial intelligence became an accepted reality?
Would the world's religions adapt and incorporate this new knowledge? Would a completely new spiritual movement emerge? Or would contact strengthen existing faiths rather than replace them?
Some researchers believe that advanced civilizations may have influenced humanity's spiritual development for thousands of years. Others argue that any future contact would be viewed through scientific rather than religious lenses. Still others suggest that consciousness, spirituality, and the UFO phenomenon are deeply connected.
At this Meetup, we'll explore questions such as:
• Would open contact unite or divide humanity? • How might Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and other religions respond? • Could contact inspire a new global spiritual movement? • Would people begin to see advanced beings as teachers, equals, or even deities? • Could humanity develop a shared planetary identity? • What role might science, philosophy, and consciousness play in a post-contact world?
Whether you're religious, spiritual, skeptical, or simply curious, you're invited to join an open and respectful discussion. There are no required beliefs—just thoughtful conversation about one of the most fascinating questions humanity may ever face.
Evening Schedule 6:00 – 6:30 pm The Contact Circle – Human Contact. Cosmic Contact. We begin each meeting by sitting in a circle and giving everyone who wishes an opportunity to introduce themselves and share their thoughts. You might mention a video, a past UFO sighting, an interesting book, a personal experience, a scientific discovery, current events, consciousness, or simply ask a question you've been wondering about. There is no pressure to speak. Listening is always welcome.
6:30 – 6:50 pm Organizer Brian Ruhe introduces the evening's discussion and presents some of the key questions we'll explore together. 6:50 – 8:00 pm Open group discussion, questions, and the sharing of ideas. 8:00 – 8:30 pm Books, Announcements & Social Time We'll wrap up with book recommendations, announcements, upcoming events, and an opportunity to get out of your chairs, mingle, and get to know one another.
Our goal is not to convince anyone what to believe. Instead, we encourage respectful discussion, open-minded curiosity, and critical thinking as we explore one of humanity's greatest mysteries.
Whether you're completely new to the subject or have been studying UFOs for years, you'll find a welcoming group of people who enjoy thoughtful conversation.
