Founded by producer Sun Chung, Red Hook Records launched in 2021 with its first release, the late pianist Masabumi Kikuchi’s Hanamichi – The Final Studio Recording. Since then, the label has built a distinctive catalog rooted in creative dialogue, bringing together musicians from different backgrounds and creating new perspectives beyond traditional stylistic boundaries. Its productions have received widespread critical recognition from leading publications across the jazz and audiophile worlds. As The Wire’s Philip Watson observed, “Red Hook is a label dedicated to exploration, discovery and pushing boundaries, to creating something that would not be possible in any other circumstances.”

Jason Moran is a pianist, composer, and multidisciplinary artist widely regarded as one of the most expansive thinkers in contemporary jazz. Celebrated as an innovator in modern jazz, he bridges classical, blues, and hip-hop influences. Moran was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2010 and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2022. He is the Curator at the Park Avenue Armory and was the Artistic Director for Jazz at The Kennedy Center from 2011-2025. Moran currently teaches at the New England Conservatory.

BlankFor.ms is the project of Brooklyn-based composer and electronic musician Tyler Gilmore, whose work centers on the textural and emotional possibilities of degraded tape, analog synthesis, and layered decay. His recordings — including two full-length albums, two EPs, and Shards (Red Hook, 2026), a collaborative album with Jason Moran and Marcus Gilmore — have earned him recognition as someone working at the outer edge of contemporary electronic music. He has also composed for film, with contributions to the Academy Award Best Picture–nominated Nickel Boys.

Marcus Gilmore is a multi-Grammy award winning drummer, composer, producer, and educator. The New York based musician has been recognized with numerous awards, residencies, and fellowships – including becoming a 2018 – 2019 Protege in the Rolex Arts Initiative. Gilmore, in all his playing, integrates a unique style where he is musically expanding rhythm, while supporting the great musicians with whom he plays. He has had the distinct privilege of performing/recording with Mulatu Astatke, Chick Corea, Pharoah Sanders, Savion Glover, Pat Metheny, Ravi Coltrane, Common, Flying Lotus, Zakir Hussain, Thundercat, Brad Mehldau, Norah Jones, Bilal, Terence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, and Terrace Martin.

Caroline Davis is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist, composer, and activist, whose work is driven by a desire for connection and a belief in music’s capacity to expand listeners’ ears, minds, and hearts. A 2025 Guggenheim Fellow in Composition, she is the recipient of the DownBeat Critics Poll Alto Saxophone Rising Star Award, as well as fellowships from NYFA, the Jerome Foundation, Chamber Music America, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Her residencies include MacDowell, The Jazz Gallery, Civitella, and the Rockefeller Estate, and she has served as a mentor for New Music USA’s Next Jazz Legacy program.

Qasim Naqvi is a percussionist, composer, and synthesist. In addition to being the drummer of the lauded cult minimalist trio Dawn of Midi, Naqvi is an accomplished solo artist whose passion for multidisciplinary work has led him into the worlds of film, dance, installation art, and orchestral and chamber music. His collaborators include Wadada Leo Smith, Andrew Cyrille, and the BBC Concert Orchestra,…
