Sound Body
About the event
Sound Body by Kim Baraka is a multimedia performance in “sono-archeology”, a practice that explores the body as a sound archive and excavation site. Explore the Depths of Sound
Sound Body invites you to explore the hidden sounds within yourself. This multimedia performance, also known as "sono-archeology," views the body as a living archive and a site for excavating memories. Kim Baraka uses collected and remembered sounds to reveal the profound connection between identity and experience. You will journey through a unique world of sound.
A Journey Through Sound and Memory
The performance encompasses a wide range of sounds, from the impactful Beirut explosion in 2020 and the constant hum of Israeli drones in Lebanese airspace, to playful, nonsensical poems from loved ones. Sound Body is a live excavation of these buried sounds. You experience them from a distance, interwoven with layered vocal compositions and movement, creating a profound and reflective experience.
Reflect on Your Own Story
Sound Body encourages you to reflect on your own personal and collective journey. It explores themes such as heritage, connection, and memory, especially in a world that often seems to pull us apart. The performance offers a unique opportunity to connect with these universal themes through the power of sound and movement.
Experience the Interactive Installation
Before the performance, you can experience an interactive installation. This installation prepares you for the profound experience of Sound Body and offers an additional layer of interaction and exploration. Be sure to arrive on time so you don't miss this special introduction.
