Launched in 1993 and now 33 years old, the Walking Club is an initiative by Sesc São Paulo centered on physical exercise that accounts for each person's conditioning, abilities, and limitations. It was first introduced to visitors of the Ipiranga unit. Due to the activity's success and positive reception, the program was extended to other units in the capital, the interior, and the coast. The goal is to bring together people of all ages interested in practicing physical exercise in an accessible and enjoyable way, offering an activity that typically has no contraindications.
Walking aligns with Sesc São Paulo's physical-sports approach, which is largely driven by encouraging the discovery of guided exercise, its inclusion in people's daily routines, and related knowledge. Walking has numerous advantages: considering all these aspects, it is accessible because it requires no special equipment or specific locations, and it is a natural activity by nature, not demanding excessive technical learning or highly complex motor skills.
