About the event
Let yourself be carried away by the Amatis Trio in 'Arcadia', an enchanting concert full of melancholy and beauty, from Schubert to Wagner and Rebecca Clarke. Amatis Trio
They prefer to build bridges: between tradition and the present, between music and other art forms, between stage and audience. During their concerts, the musicians of the Amatis Trio take you to new worlds where music tells stories. The trio was founded in 2014 and is based in Salzburg. Violinist Lea Hausmann, cellist Samuel Shepherd, and pianist Mengjie Han are praised for their energy, creativity, and passion. 'Melancholy, softness, and exuberance make for a lively, emotional concert experience,' according to The Strad. Tonight, the trio performs the program Arcadia.
Arcadia: from Schubert and Mendelssohn to Wagner and Rebecca Clarke
Arcadia symbolizes a place of pure beauty and simplicity. Often depicted in the arts as a paradise lost to the modern world, yet living on in memory and myth. Each work on tonight's program highlights a different facet of this idyllic ideal, whether it concerns nostalgia, romantic longing, or offers a brief glimpse of an almost otherworldly beauty. In Schubert's serene Notturno, you feel the nocturnal intimacy; Rebecca Clarke's Andante from her Piano Trio possesses a vulnerable simplicity; and Wagner's Liebestod provides an ecstatic climax. Mendelssohn has the final word with his energetic Second Piano Trio.
