Join us for an afternoon at the Rijksmuseum, one of the world's great museums of art and Dutch history! From masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer and Frans Hals to fascinating temporary exhibitions, the Rijksmuseum offers an incredible journey through centuries of Dutch art and culture. On this particular day, there is something especially exciting to see: the major new Willem de Kooning at work exhibition will have opened just one day earlier! π¨β¨

π¨ Special Exhibition: Willem de Kooning at work
9 October 2026 β 17 January 2027 This major exhibition opens on October 9, making our October 10 visit one of the first opportunities to see it! π The exhibition presents around 120 works and focuses particularly on Willem de Kooning's drawings, alongside a selection of his important paintings and sculptures. It follows his artistic development from his departure from the Netherlands to his life and career in New York, offering insight into his creative process and constant search for renewal. Two of his iconic paintings, Woman I and Woman and Bicycle, will also be displayed in the Rijksmuseum's Gallery of Honour during the exhibition period.

π©βπ¨ Last Chance: Zes Vermeers
Until October 10, 2026 This is a particularly special date for Vermeer lovers! π The exhibition Zes Vermeers presents six paintings by Johannes Vermeer in the Gallery of Honour. Four works from the Rijksmuseum collection are joined by: πΌοΈ *The Girl with a Red Hat* πΌοΈ *Young Woman at the Virginal* These two additional paintings will be on display only through October 10, making this the last day to see the complete group of six Vermeers together.

The Rijksmuseum's permanent collection includes some of the most famous works in Dutch art, including masterpieces by: π¨ Rembrandt π¨ Johannes Vermeer π¨ Frans Hals π¨ Jan Steen π¨ Vincent van Gogh There are also temporary and collection presentations throughout the museum. The 20th-century collection presentation is currently on view through November 9, 2026, featuring artists including Madelon Vriesendorp, Charley Toorop and Karel Appel. The print rooms are also presenting a changing selection of prints and drawings, with themes including Roman street art, social satire and Japanese fairy tales, through November 29.
