Protecting Human Rights in a Time of Global Conflict
About the event
As global conflicts intensify and international law faces growing challenges, protecting human rights has never been more urgent. This timely forum asks a critical question: how can we strengthen human rights protections and prevent violations in a world increasingly shaped by conflict, displacement and great-power rivalry?
Speakers include Kate Gilmore, former UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights; Daniela Gavshon, the Australia Director at Human Rights Watch; Caitlin Reiger, CEO of the Human Rights Law Centre; and Emeritus Professor Spencer Zifcak, an expert in international human rights and constitutional law. Together, they will explore stronger international cooperation, a better-informed and engaged citizenry, and meaningful reform of the United Nations system.
The discussion will be moderated by Professor Joseph Camilleri, an internationally recognised scholar of international relations, peace and security.
