International Free Workshop | Theatre and Community – Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory

Running 17–28 August 2026, Monday to Friday, 19h30–22h30, at Unidade Roosevelt. This workshop develops participants' understanding of artistic and human practice within community settings through performance exercises combining composition, movement, sound scores, scenic space design, and costume/props elements, each approximately 9 minutes long. Work centres on "Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory", treating territory as the community itself—its histories, tensions, and daily lived experience. Led by Rui Germano, Portuguese theatre director, master's degree holder in theatre and community, and founder of Associação Cultural Beleza Teatro. Long-standing partner of SP Escola Superior de Teatro, he works as educator and artist on international exchange projects, specializing in collaborative practices and creative processes rooted in memory, personal experience, and art-community relationships that foster scenic encounters enabling cultural exchange across different territories. Open to theatre students and others interested in the subject, no restrictions, 18+. Selection by curriculum review and letter of interest. 35 places. Applications 16 June–10 August 2026.
