A Palestinian surgeon drives home after a long night shift, but little does she know that a commute through a desolate West Bank road will change her forever. FORMAT: DCP IN THIS DARKNESS I SEE YOU, 2026, Dir. Nadim Tabet, 85 Mins, Lebanon/Qatar/Saudi Arabia/France In Arabic with English subtitles. Strange and life-threatening events at a construction site spark tension between Syrian workers and Lebanese villagers, prompting Tarek, one of the workers, to become convinced the site is haunted. Meanwhile a romance is blossoming that may hold the key to all the secrets. Nadim Tabet’s haunting exploration of the recent history of Lebanon is a fantastic, haunting affair that uses friction between Syria and Lebanon in the 1990s as a stepping-off point for a classic ghost story that fizzles with unease. Deftly resonating with the current increasing hostility towards immigrants, the film uses a haunting as a central motif to explore a landscape that is both hostile and stuck in the past. With incredible central performances at its core and a smart and sparkling script, IN THIS DARKNESS I SEE YOU is for all fans of old-fashioned ghost stories that sticks with you all the way into the dark.
