Zombie Zumba - Zumba with Pawel Halloween Special
About the event
Once a year the Wednesday class comes back from the dead. * * * Use code iamzombie for $7 tickets. * * * This year, category is "Zombie Zumba". We will be dancing, eating (brains), and more dancing. Zombies, ghouls, vampires, witches, skeletons, cursed mermaids, all welcome. Zumba is a dance-fitness program that feels like a party but works your whole body. Simple, repeatable choreography set to energising music, so you get a cardio workout without staring at a clock. No dance experience needed. If you can shuffle and follow along, you can do Zumba. Zombies shuffle anyway. The plan, 2 hours of undead chaos About 60 minutes of dancing, split into rounds, 'til our limbs fall off. Snack and drink breaks in between, potluck-style, everyone brings something small to share. Then we dance again, because zombies don't stay down. Group photo and video moments throughout, get your best zombie face ready. The vibe All-levels friendly and judgement-free, with options to reduce impact, slow it down or take a pause whenever you need. Expect Latin rhythms, pop and throwback bangers, with a few spooky tracks worked in and a little queer joy on top. Costumes Encouraged, not required. Ripped shirt, dark eyes, a bit of fake blood, done. Running straight from the office? No worries. Face paint, fake blood and accessories will be waiting at the door to zombify you on arrival. Doors open around 6:30 pm for makeup, dancing starts at 7. First-timers Parties are the best first class. Wear something you can move in, bring water, pick a spot where you can see me. If you miss a move, keep stepping to the beat and jump back in. Venue We dance at the East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC) in Darlinghurst, the big room on the upper floor, capped around 40 so there's plenty of room to move. It's just behind Oxford Street on the corner of Burton St and Palmer St, a few minutes' walk from buses along Oxford Street. Street parking is possible but limited, so give yourself extra time. Doors open around 6:30 pm, dancing starts at 7. Arrival Look for a cheerful (slightly undead) group outside the building, or upstairs if the doors are already open. If you hear happy chaos, you're probably in the right place. Running late? No stress, slip in through the glass door and join when you're ready. Accessibility and comfort Lower-impact options are always available, and you can pause, step out or modify moves at any time. If you have access needs or questions about the space (sound level, lighting, stairs, seating), message me and I'll tell you what to expect. If you have an injury, are pregnant, or are returning to exercise, consider checking in with a health professional first. What to bring Something small to share (potluck), drinks (BYO, whatever you fancy), costume vibes (effort optional), supportive shoes you can dance in, clothes you don't mind getting a bit of fake blood on, water, and a small towel.
