Check your public transport options to get to the event [here](https://transportnsw.info/trip#/trip).
Metro from Central is 8AM.
Train back to Central at the end takes 30 mins.
🦎About: This is an easy summer walk. The route chosen has a lot of tree shade. Fast trains there & back too.
Plenty of exit points but hoping you can go the whole way.😀
🦎Route: From Cherrybrook we cut through Cumberland State Forest to Bidjigal Reserve. That winds south towards Parramatta & we come out at Lake Parramatta. After checking out the heritage-listed man-made reservoir we street walk to the 200 year old St Patricks Cemetery. Then we cross the river to Parramatta Park. The park is home to a historic breeding camp of 5,000 to 10,000 grey-headed flying-foxes.. First recorded in 1798, this vulnerable colony plays a vital role as a native plant pollinator. From there it's a short walk to the train station.
🦎Distance: 16.5km
🦎Type of walk: Mostly bush and some suburban. Well worn tracks and footpath. Steps and mild hills.
🦎Difficulty: Easy/Moderate. If you are unsure about the distance but would like to test yourself, this is a walk for you: there are plenty of get-out points. Total elevation 265m.
🦎Walking Pace: We will maintain a steady pace all day and average 4-4.5 km per hour.
🦎What to bring:
• Trailwalker shoes with good grip
• 1 litre of water, refills along the route, optional hydralytes
• Carbohydrate (starchy) snacks and lunch (or buy lunch at Parra)
