Mindful Dating Amsterdam (ENG; 47-65)
About the event
*** Introduction to HOKU Mindfulness Events ***
I started HOKU Dating events because I felt called to contribute something to modern dating culture. I’ve long been drawn to spaces centered around tea, meditation, conscious connection, presence, embodiment, and relational awareness—and at some point, I found myself thinking: somebody ought to create dating events that feel more like this.:)
These events grew from a desire to create spaces where we can slow down, unplug from our screens, leave the alcohol behind, and meet each other more openly and authentically—with or without dating as the ultimate outcome.
Most of the three-hour event is facilitated, but everything is optional. You’re always free to participate in the way that feels right for you. There is also time before and after the guided portion, as well as a break in the middle, to talk and connect with the other guests more casually.
Maybe you’ll meet someone and feel a spark that grows into something deeper. Maybe you’ll simply leave having shared a genuinely fun evening with beautiful new people—which happens at every event! Maybe you’ll discover something new about yourself, or experience a little more intimacy with yourself along the way.
My goal is for the evening to feel valuable regardless of the outcome.
*** Practical Information ***
The event lasts approximately three hours and is guided throughout most of that time. We’ll move through a variety of exercises, prompts, conversations, and forms of interaction designed to support genuine connection in a grounded and relaxed way.
There is plenty of parking at this venue (free on weekends and after 19:00 weekdays).
Metrostation Isolatorweg (lines 50 & 51) is just a few minutes’ walk from the venue. For people coming from outside Amsterdam, Amsterdam Sloterdijk is the nearest major NS train station, about 1.4 km away, and they can transfer there to the metro toward Isolatorweg.
There is no dress code. Wear something you feel good in and can comfortably move, sit on the floor, and dance in.
Alcohol and drugs are not permitted during the event. If you arrive visibly intoxicated, you will be asked to leave without a refund. Based on feedback from our community, we are experimenting with events for different age groups.
These age ranges are guidelines rather than hard rules, so if you’re slightly older or younger, no worries.:) You can also check out our other events for different age groups.
All genders and orientations are welcome. For our current events, however, you’ll notice that tickets are divided according to binary gender. This is our attempt to maintain a reasonable balance for heterosexual participants, so that the event can genuinely function as a dating space. Last-minute cancellations are inevitable, though, so we can never guarantee an exact balance between men and women. I would also love to host dedicated LGBTQ+ events. If that is something you’d be interested in, please feel very welcome to reach out by email—it helps me get a sense of the interest. And keep an eye out for our poly/ENM/open relationship editions as well.
This event will primarily be facilitated in English. I also speak Dutch, so clarification or translation can absolutely be provided whenever needed. And if the group happens to be entirely Dutch-speaking, we may naturally move between the two languages. Please feel welcome to express yourself in either (or any:) language during the event.
*** The Vibe ***
Together, we co-create a warm, non-judgmental space where you are welcome to be yourself. No performance necessary. Every exercise is completely optional, and you are always free to take a break or step out at any time.
At the same time, we encourage you to approach each encounter as an opportunity for meaningful human interaction—even when you’re fairly certain someone isn’t “your match.” Not every connection needs to become romantic to be worth having. Anyone can be your teacher. If you stay open and curious, it…
