NOISE Club Gewalt
About the event
In this immersive performance opera, born from the urgency to learn to navigate in a collapsing world, Club Gewalt asks itself the question: how can you function under the constant noise of information that predicts the apocalypse? A performance that begins as a hallucinatory seminar about an existential crisis ends in a cathartic immersion in Noise. This performance at theater Frascati is spoken in Dutch, with English surtitles. Explore the polycrisis
During this immersive performance-opera by Club Gewalt, you learn to navigate a world that is constantly changing. The show begins as a seminar about existential crises. You experience how you can function under the constant stream of information predicting the end of the world.
Discover the world collapsing
Imagine fluorescent tubes above a screen showing a frantic PowerPoint presentation. A young, professional mother gives a semi-intellectual TED Talk about recovery after postnatal depression. Vintage synthesizers accompany a musical number about a baby falling off the sofa. The world collapses, with far too many words and too little hope.
Let the noise in
We live in a time of polycrisis, in which we are confronted with advancing fascism, the climate crisis and Western complicity in genocide. Fruit and vegetables are full of PFAS, and our own identity turns out to be steeped in sexism, racism and homophobia. All the systems around us are threatening to collapse. Can you let the noise in and process it on an emotional level?
Accept the collapse of systems
Can you learn to accept the collapse of systems as a law of the cosmos, without stopping your protest against injustice? Prepare for the polycrisis by letting go of your resistance to vulnerability. Through a derailing seminar about stress cycles, led by a group of doppelgängers, you are drawn into a ‘collapse’.
Rediscover what it means to be human
Understanding and control make way for an exercise in falling in love with being human again. The show does not make the future out to be more beautiful than it is, but teaches you to really listen to the ‘noise’. "Never waste a good crisis."
