Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play
About the event
Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play by Anne Washburn is a darkly funny, inventive exploration of storytelling, memory and survival.
In the aftermath of a catastrophic event, a group of survivors gather around a fire and try to reconstruct an episode of The Simpsons from memory. As the play moves forward through time, this familiar piece of pop culture is retold, reshaped and transformed into something much larger...entertainment, folklore and eventually mythology.
Blending comedy, drama, music and bold theatricality, Mr. Burns asks what happens to the stories we love when the world that created them is gone. Strange, hilarious, unsettling and unexpectedly moving, it is a celebration of our instinct to tell stories and the extraordinary ways those stories change as they are passed on.
