Long Form Improv Show
About the event
A One-of-a-Kind Improvised Theater Experience
What if an entire evening of theater could be created right in front of you—with no script, no predetermined characters, and no idea where the story will go? Come experience a unique long-form improvisational style developed by Kent Skov, founder of L.A. Connection Comedy Theatre and a former member of The Committee in San Francisco, where he worked with legendary improviser and long-form pioneer Del Close. This is not a collection of unrelated improv games. It is improvised theater as an evolving art form. Kent developed specialized long-form structures including the Holiday and Flashback forms—giving performers a framework in which characters, relationships, memories, discoveries and seemingly unrelated moments can return and gain new meaning as the performance unfolds.
THE HOLIDAY
A single suggestion can become the beginning of an entire world. Characters meet. Relationships develop. Events unfold. Time passes. And as the story grows, moments can return in unexpected ways—creating connections that neither the performers nor the audience could have planned.
THE FLASHBACK
What happens when the present suddenly reveals the past? The Flashback form allows the ensemble to move through time, discovering the history behind characters and relationships as the story unfolds. A moment that seems small in the beginning can become completely different once you see what happened before. The result is part comedy, part theater, part storytelling experiment—and 100% spontaneous.
WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT
Long-form improvisation grew from the work of artists such as Del Close and The Committee, who helped establish the idea that improv could be more than short comedic scenes or games. Their work helped open the door to improvisation as a sustained theatrical form. Kent Skov comes directly from that lineage. Now you get to see what happens when that tradition continues to evolve. Every performance is created once. There is no script. There are no rehearsed endings. There are no second chances. The performers discover the story at the same time you do. And because the audience provides the inspiration, you are part of the creative process.
