Is this your event?About the event
Join Tim as we discover the origins of London together. We’ll talk about why London exists where it does, how the Romans lived and whether Boudicca is the best role model as a defender of London! It was the Romans who founded London and set the boundaries which still exist today. At its height, Londinium was the greatest Roman city north of the Alps. Deep beneath our feet parts of the city still survive. On our walk we will start with the mighty walls which defended London for 1500 years; we'll walk on original Roman pavements hidden below the streets of the City; visit the extraordinary Temple of Mithras and the Roman ampitheatre which at its peak seated 10,000 spectators and we’ll end in a pub built on Roman foundations.
We meet at 10.45 in the hotel foyer of Citizen M hotel next to Tower Hill station. We’ll start walking at 11. Cost is £12, payable on the day by cash or card, through PayPal (timpotter53@gmail.com) or bank transfer (08-90-33, 07162019)
