About the event

Join Megaphone Editor Paula Carlson and members of The Shift peer newsroom for an engaging conversation on the ethics of journalism, with a particular focus on reporting from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. The evening will also explore the evolving role of print media in 2026 and offer a behind-the-scenes look at Megaphone's peer newsroom and the collaborative process behind its reporting. After the event stay for a Q & A with the Megaphone team! — In partnership with Megaphone Magazine. --- For three decades, Paula Carlson has worked as a writer and editor at various community newspapers throughout the Lower Mainland, contributing stories and stick-handling special projects that have won more than 50 industry awards. She is Megaphone's editorial director, and the founder and managing editor of The Shift peer newsroom. --- Please register. Registration is required to attend, as it helps us anticipate attendance and send a reminder the day before the event, or any updates about this program. --- VPL is committed to making our programs accessible for all. Elevator access to the Montalbano Family Theatre on level 8 is available with the main elevators on level 2. The theatre has three wheelchair accessible spaces in the front row on the right hand side. Alternate styles of seating may be available, if you require another type of chair, please email us.
