Ken Russell's 1971 misbegotten masterpiece has been fully restored to the director's original vision, and the Music Box is celebrating.

This is the first time that the picture will be presented in its restoration, which is composed from the original camera negative.

In a stunning new 4K version, The Devils stars Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed in a delirious tale of religious hysteria and insanity.

Described by film historians as a historical psychological horror film, the movie is a dramatized historical account of the fall of Urbain Grandier, a 17th century Roman Catholic priest accused of witchcraft after a string of suspected possessions in Loudun, France. The story also focuses on Sister Jeanne des Anges, a sexually repressed nun who incites the accusations.

The film's graphic portrayal of violent and sexual content, often combined with religion, ignited harsh reaction from censors, and it originally received an X rating in both the United Kingdom and the United States. It was banned in several countries, and heavily edited for exhibition in others.

Showtime is 6 pm. Let's meet a half hour before in the lounge so we can all get good seats together. After the show we can grab a bite nearby.

Hope to see you there.
