Can we Agree on a Definition of Justice?

August's topic will be conducted by Bro. Kevin Watson as he asks the question, "Can we Agree on a Definition of Justice?" Synopsis: A Freemason is expected to practice the four Cardinal virtues as described in Plato’s classic book from 375 B.C.E., “The Republic”. Those are Prudence, Fortitude, Temperance and Justice. Of those four, Justice is perhaps the least understood. The working title of Plato’s book was actually, “On Justice”, and it took 89,359 words in the original Greek text for Socrates to make his point. In the modern times, Justice has come to mean many other things. We will consider the various conceptions of Justice and determine if we can agree on a common understanding.
