This distinctive quartet brings a mix of vintage funk, electroacoustic jazz, and art-pop to the Bimhuis stage. George, led by drummer/composer John Hollenbeck, plays music that sits somewhere between vintage funk, electroacoustic jazz, and art-pop. The quartet consists of Anna Webber on tenor saxophone and flute, Sarah Rossy on voice and synthesizer, Chiquita Magic on synthesizers and voice, and Hollenbeck himself on drums. Looking for Consonance The band name is, on the one hand, a tribute to George Floyd, in memory of his life and the violent death he suffered, but on the other hand, it also resonates across a broad spectrum of Georges: from the Greek georgos (earthworker) and George Washington Carver to George Orwell, Georgia O'Keeffe, and George Lewis. 'Letters to George' (Out Of Your Head Records, 2023) was praised by AllMusic as a remarkable debut featuring compelling, challenging compositions. In 2026, 'Looking for Consonance' will be released, recorded at Hansa Studios in Berlin.
